I'm starting to get Pm's asking where my reports are and I'm sorry about not putting much up. For the most part I have only been fishing the charter boat and it seems every day were booked its 5-10', blowing 20-35. So, not a lot of pics lately and no video, but dolphin fishing is good, with some small wahoo's and some bills around. Also, good spanish on the beach.
Last Tuesday I did get a chance to do some fun fishing with Jake(Overboard) and my buddy Randy on the Sea Draggin Grady. We went after two things Trophy dolphin or Billfish.
I ran the slough in the morning, as it was pretty and high tide, then set my sites up the beach. 37 knots for about 50 minutes put me in the high 8's on the 100 and we threw out the spread aiming the SD to the Northeast. We picked up a few small dolphins, while we trolled out to the 1000, then turned and came back into the low 9's. The scattered grass was brutal.
The bait piles where thick and the big boats were starting to show up. We trolled around the bait most of the day and finally had a billfish suck down the shotgun. Blue/White ilander with a horse. Had her on for just a minute, then gone. We stuck it out for the day. We were the only little boat up there that I saw anyway.
I decided to troll back in and when we got back into about 400ft they started coming down. We had 30 minutes of some of the best dolphin fishing you could ask for. All the fish in that bunch were 20-35lbs and there were coming as fast as you wanted, 2 and 3 at a time. It was getting late and most of the Big Rock fleet was heading home, so we pulled them and cut back through the slough.
