I have watch the shark hunter east and west prelims. Last night I watched round 1 of the finals. I have read all the accusations here and saw them on TV. "Participants" has questioned the rules on every shark tournament show I have seen , insinuated cheating on most. Their 15 minutes of fame doesn't serve them as well as they would like.
I have never caught a Mako, Thresher so I know nothing of this world. I could best describe myself as a beginner amatuer when it comes to most fishing. But I am an outdoorsman. Caught a 500 lb. blue marlin, 350 BFT, killed a monster 6 pt. bull elk and the toughest trophy of all, a 30+ inch Mule Deer. Go ahead and laugh, I lived in the east for 35 years and hunted whitetail deer for most of those.
So is the Mako just about danger and a rush. Is the Mako a sign of "macho" or is walking a ledge 2000 ft. up in pursuit of a Mountain Goat "macho"? We can debate these type issues for ever.
NOW TO THE REAL SUBJECT: SHARKS AND TV
Am I stupid or do these East vs. West shark shows depict:
1- Loud mouth people better than everyone else?
2- None sportsmen with no sportsmanship?
3- The self proclaimed "world's greatest shark fishermen" who caught 3 makos weighing about 100 lbs each?
4- The most unfriendly group of people I have ever seen?
5- Do they not bash others because they didn't catch a fish?
6- Most say they did it by the rules, one of the rules should be, grow up?
7- Is anyone involved in this TV show "innocent"? I can't seem to find one, so someone please help me. If you are innocent, please inform me here or by PM or 435-749-1674 and I will apologize publicly.
8- I ask you, the voice of sportfishing (SFC), was this show and all those involve not an embarrassment to our sport, their family, themself, and the human race?
9- Was there more interviews in this show than fishing?
10- Was these same interviews on knowledgable fishing techniques or were they a forum to bash other fishermen?
11- Were the fishermen involved true professionals? I hear about the "drunks" but what about a Mako actually getting his teeth on a pit monkeys shirt, maybe even got skin.
12- Was this show portrayed to involve professionals, fishing for $1,000,000?
Even that misleads the average public. What are the odds of someone winning that prize? About the same as Powerball?
13- Did the TV show depict anyone (captain, mate, angler, wife, friend) having fun and enjoying the great sport of offshore fishing? Did the producers copy the preliminary rounds of American Idol? Does William Hung ring a bell?
14- Should you throw rocks if you live in a Glass House?
I ask all of the above as questions, food for thought for all.
I BLAME THE TV PRODUCERS FOR MAKING A MOCKERY OF OUR SPORT AND ALSO OUR FRIENDS. THEY ARE LAUGHING AT US AS WE SLIT EACH OTHERS THROATS, CALL EACH OTHER CHEATERS, SLANDER EACH OTHER, BASICALLY HATE EACH OTHER.
I challenge each one on SFC to not let the TV producers win. Let's be brothers, sisters. No one is perfect, forgive, forget but love mankind.
Be a true American. We have issues but not with each other. Great men and women are dying each day to preserve our right to FISH. Let's be true fishermen and get back to being friends.
LET'S NOT MAKE A MOCKERY OF OUR FREEDOM.
Thanks, I love you ALL.
