Greg Newett and Dale Carlson were here for a 3 day Pinas Bay Christmas. Craig released
a nice sized Blue Marlin on the first day of fishing. On day two, Christmas Day, they
stayed on the Zane Grey Reef all day and they were rewarded with not 1 but 3 Black
Marlins! Both Greg and Dale released their first Blacks on this day. Dale also went below
and yanked a lovely Cubera Snapper from the reef. Congratulations on a great fishing day
and trip!

Edward “Sonny” Seale and his wife Karen decided to fly in from Texas and spend their
Christmas with us at the lodge. Santa didn’t leave much under the tree this year however
he sent the billfish to their boat. Sonny released his first Black Marlin and Blue Marlin
during this 4 day trip. His wife, Karen Seale also released her first Black and Blue
Marlin. All the marlins were estimated between 400 and 500 lbs. The Dorado and
Amberjack were biting too and they had plenty to do during the day while the Marlins
rested. They ended up with a total of 2 Blacks and 3 Blues over the four days. Sonny is
bound to be back next year for some more! Congratulations on your great catch.

John and Delora McEnaney are regulars here at Christmas and flew in for the festivities.
The marlin gods smiled on them this week too...5 Blue Marlin, 1 Black Marlin and a
Pacific Sailfish. John accomplished a week’s GRAND SLAM!

Robert Weaver was also at the lodge this for the Holidays and had exceptional action.
Fishing a six day stretch, the couple released 4 Black Marlins, 2 Blue Marlins and 2
Pacific Sailfish. Both Karen and Robert Weaver released their first Black Marlin.

Frank Kosi brought his mom Gwen down to Tropic Star this week to celebrate the
Christmas holidays. It was indeed a pleasure to meet this unique mother and son combo.
They fished a lot on long range boats out of Southern California and mom, who is 72
years old, still does battle with giant yellowfin tuna on 21 day trips to Mexico,
AMAZING! Mom and son released 2 Blue Marlins a Black Marlin and a Pacific Sailfish
on this trip. Frank also had a GRAND SLAM for the week. Congratulations and I
certainly look forward to seeing you back next year.
