Hi- The one I got was accidental, we were trolling for stripers around bunker schools, about 3.5 knots, it hit a blue Stretch Lure. Good Luck.
SOUNDS INCREDIBLY WILD AND I AM PUMPED TO HEAR MORE ABOUT IT.......
I HAVE CAUGHT SEVERAL MAKOS TROLLING - BUT A THRESHER WOULD BE OUT OF THIS WORLD ON THE TROLL.........
LOOKING FORWARD TO READING MORE ON THIS![]()

havnt done it myself, been wanting to try it for a couple years just havnt took time to try, would like to give it a try in the next week or two, i have heard that when trolling for threshers its not uncommon to hook them in the tail which makes for a tough fight for the angler, fred archer has a book on trolling for sharks which would be interesting to read
We catch them from time to time while trolling for Giant bluefin off Morehead in the winter .. usually around bunker schools in 50-75 ft of water .. our speed is in the 4-4.5kt range and the baits fished off the planers (subsurface) seem to get most of the thresher bites
