Travel between MHC, NC & Northeast/NJ

Going to MHC in January, for you guys who travel back and forth do you fly or drive? Any recommendations for getting to MHC also appreciated- 95 or down closer to the coast. Looking to visit Capt. Joe's in Atlantic Beach, any where else a "must see", best places to stay, eat, drink?

    Thanks.

I would check with Canyon Runner Mark- He can give you the best info from there.

I know my friends that come down from the Cherry Hill area of Jersey find it easier to go over the DE Memorial bridge down route 1 to either 113 to 13 or just stay on 13 the whole way to the tunnel, then it is 64 to 17 and on 17 almost the whole way until you pick up 70 east bound. Capt. Joe Shutes is 5 minutes from MHC, so stopping in there won't be a problem.

The reason they go that route is that 95 is a PIA with city traffic almost any time of day you go.

From OC, MD it is 6 hours. Coming from Cherry Hill/woodbury it is between 8.5 and 9 hours.

Its a pretty good drive from Fairhaven .. If traveling alone , you might want to fly into New Bern (Craven regional airport) which is 30-40 minutes from Morehead. If driving , I prefer the route Frank uses .. Delaware Bridge to RT 1 to 13 .. then RT 17 to 70. More local than 95 but usually less traffic. 95 can be good if traveling through the Washington DC area late at night or very early, otherwise I'd avoid it during regular hours ..

    THANKS!

Thanks for the input guys. How's traffic in the DC area on Saturday? We'll be driving down Saturday and then driving back Wednesday. I prefer the coastal route and always take that when going to OBX. Boat is on the rack for the winter and I can't wait to get out on the water.
