    Tips for Buying Bait

Many of you seem to be in the know, so I hope a few will be willing to share some info. I remember some posts in early '06 where it was mentioned if you wanted good ballyhoo get them early from Baitmasters before the pickins get slim. Is this true and when are the best times to buy the various baits throughout the year. And are there other good vendors out there that will ship cross country. Thank you very much, Drew

The ballyhoo being shipped right now should be as good as it get's. Last year summer stocks got pretty low so There should not be much summer caught bait left. Winter caught ballyhoo are generally much firmer and brighter baits. There are other Fla. shippers out there, they change some from year to year. try a google. You can't go wrong with Baitmasters though---as good as they come.

Thank you for that, any opinions on their other baits? Are their large squid consistently the same size or are they bigger in different months of the year. I'll stick with Baitmasters.

Most of the time I put in a pretty good sized order with Baitmasters early in the year - I'll fish those pretty much all year - and If they are not bloody or look freezer burned, use the remainder the following year (if any are left over)

I'll keep a bag or 4 in the freezer on the boat as a backup, and rig the new bait first.

    Seems to work pretty well.

Baitmasters is one of the very few store boughts that gets my nod. Bionic is sometimes good and other times not good. Willies has nice baits too , a good variety and he's very good with the shipping...

Got a confirmation that my baitmasters order will be here wednesday. Always love the smoke rolling out in the floor while I am putting them away in teh freezer. I have never had any problems with the orders from them.
