I think Admin is going to let me have this space
In the last year, I have spoken with many people concerning this topic. Dont get me wrong, I did not start this thread trying to mind anybodys business and tell them what they should or should not make.I would like to think that anyone who knows me personally would know that I am a very generous individual.
My original topic concerned what is expected? Of which I received a wide range of opinions as seen from post in the thread.
My conversations with individuals in the business have led me to believe that "CLARITY" in what is expected is the best remedy for this. Something as simple as a sign on board or it being noted in the agreement prior to boarding would eliminnate any confusion as to what is expected. And I dont mean a sign reading "MATE WORKS FOR TIPS". IMO thats leaves to much to discussion. A tip means different things to different people.
Some say it is "CUSTOMARY". As with anything deemed "CUSTOMARY" I do not believe one should be expected to know what is "CUSTOMARY" in any industry. Thus I believe it is much better for things to be in Black and White.
I do believe this would benefit everyone involved and alleviate much confusion.
