I have learned in my life..sometimes no recommendation is the best recommendation..been there..
I am very very careful about who I refer people too, as it can and will come back to haunt you if it does not turn out well.
For the most part, I don't refer people to anyone, unless I am 100% sure of the outcome..even friends have buggered a deal now and then.

Sorry to hear all that captain Ken. Did your friends (who chartered this outfit) made their feelings known to the captain of that boat. I'm sure he'd like to know.
Perhaps you too should speak with said captain if you feel this strongly about it.
Cheers,

Have fished with many different operations and they have ranged from ok to excellent which is fine with me. I'm not real picky or hard to please. I'm basically out there to enjoy the day with friends, the elements, and catching fish is a bonus. As long as they are friendly and work hard, that is all I ask.
Have had a couple charters where the mate or captain, was either a jerk or didn't seem to care about the overall experience provided. I will never fish with these guys again and I let everyone know what I think when asked about chartering.
He'll lose future business! I'm sure your friends will spread the word about their experience when asked about a good charter operation.
Everyone has bad days, but chartering is a once a summer thing for some folks and they expect to have a good time.
Hate they had a bad time, I'd probably mention it to the captain so he knows the impresssion his mate is giving to his business.

I don't know who this post was directed at and I'm not coming to their defense, but I guess this is a confession of my own. I know when I've been at it, day after day, in the bottom of what seem's like an endless line of boat's. I can be less than "chipper" with my customer's. I don't mean it and usually don't even know I'm being abbrasive, I really don't intend to be that way. After all I'm doing basically the same thing a Capt. and Mate are doing, I'm working on the object that some use to get "away from it all", their boat's. I am fully aware that my customer's pay my bill's and they can go else where if they aren't happy with my service or demeaner (which never happen's because I'm such a wonderful guy). That being said, I guess with a decent weather window and the ability to get out for many long day's in a row, I can see where it can wear you down. I know back in my commercial day's toward the end of those longer trip's you get physically worn down from lack of sleep. Again I know that "these guy's" are in the entertainment business and are supposed to be above that sort of behavior. I guess if they had a less than desirable trip they should have brought it up to the Capt. (the boss) or just told the Mate to lay off. Frank
