    Thoughts from a 10X10 office.

Suppose someone was interested in getting a ride on a boat for a tournament but had no connections or friends in the biz How could they make this happen?... Maybe just for a day or two experience what you tournament fishermen experience almost everyday or quite frequently anyway during the tournie season. I grew up fishing mostly the local bays (DE/Chesapeake) on my family's skiff. Though in the annual or semi-annual trip to the OBX for some meat fishing. It goes without saying that I am absolutely obsessed with the whole lifestyle. My lifestyle these days involves low risk adventures and those adventures are very limited with a wife and a two and a half year old son. Ten years ago, that puts me at 16 by the way, it would have been a dream come true to pack up, move to N.C. and learn the craft of boat building. I've bought many books, Carolina Flare being among the top, about this lifestyle and often day dream on what it would be like to be sitting in the middle of the Golf Stream trolling up and down on a boat that I had built myself. My aforementioned family situation prevents this; as does a large mortgage payment, insurance payments, food payments, car payments, daycare payments, etc. I do understand that these tournaments involve big money and when money is involved people get very serious. The preparation and intensity of some of these teams amazes me as well as the investment just to get started. I just finished reading FISHINFOOL's post in the crew resume section (which was very inspiring) and realized that some times all you have to do is ask and possibly your dreams could come true. So back to my original question...suppose someone just wanted a ride on the bridge of a tournament boat to see what it was all about and live a dream for a day; Is this even possible? All these thoughts spurred from a slow day at the corporate accounting office.

    Thanks for your time.

Get registered as an IFGA Observer. Otherwise you might be able to talk to a upcoming team about running a video camera plus being the food prep guy for the trip etc It also will depend on the tourny if they count the bodies on the boat or if the boat would hve to pay for an add.body....just some thoughts

Ask... Offer to wash the boat, clean everything, make sandwhiches, help ice and everything else(be the b**** perhaps)... and someone may be nice enough to give you a ride. Sometimes people cant make it and an extra "fish spotter" is needed...

The easiest way is the pay your share if you can afford it if your not the captain or the mate... but... sometimes you can get a "ride..." by just asking, knowing the right people, or by offering to help with odds and ends... espesially washing the boat everyday you ride, or even tipping the mate/captain an extra $100 just to sit in the tower...
