    Teaser Rigging Question??

I have an oversized Pakula marlin lure with a concave face that is too big to drag around Miami but I like the action and commotion it creates. I'm thinking of pulling it hookless as a teaser off a cleat. It really simulates a mahi crushing bait...

I understand how to rig it with a lure and hookstop, but if just mono how would I make the final connection...

Crimp a loop at the end. Use a tri-bead if you have to.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

As said just crimp a loop to it.

I'd put some chaffing gear on the loop such as a thimble, nylon tubing or stainless spring so you can attatch something else to it.

I don't like the idea of running it off a cleat. Fish do get a likeing to lure teasers and often to get fish off the teaser and onto something with hook in it you have to remove the teaser lure. Rather than pulling the lure in by hand, where often the fish will follow and spook, I'd rather see it on a rod so it can be popped out of the water from where it's running and something with a hook moved into that position (quickly).

If you are using lures as teasers, run something with a hook in it close behind at around 10 to 20 feet.

Agree with Pak. Wouldnt run it straight off a cleat. If a fish piles on it, it will come flying right back at you.

    Kite rod will work fine.

I rig my big teaser lures on a shot of SS braided cable....I have had at least two that were clipped off by makos. Same reason I also paint my 32oz planers black!

do you prime your planers prior to painting black or will the stainless hold straight final coat?

    CRISPY,

i just shoot them with flat black rustoleum. two coats hung from a coat hanger. They loose some paint after a handfull of trips and I just touch them up. Saves me from losing them to lit up makos that may show up in the spread.
