Tamarindo, Costa Rica

I am heading down to Tamarindo for a few days after I finish some business in San Jose and San Ramon. Just wanted to see if any of you guys had fished near Tamarindo. Results? Were the charters ok? I know now is supposedly windy there but didn't know what was available.

Also, would it be worth taking a rod and reel of my own? How easily accesible is fishing from the beach? Roosterfish? Is it worth it?

Any info would be appreciated..

There were a couple of streams there a few years ago that had some great Snook fishing. Seems like I could walk to it from where I stayed...

2 of my fishing buddies fished there in Jan. of this year. they fished 2 days. Mostly pulling plugs for billfish. Had 6 marlin bites on day one and had one release & one big mahi. Decided to go back for another try and caught nothing on day 2. If you need more information PM me and I will give them a call. I thing they said the tackle was fine, Moldcraft wide ranges plugs.
