Great group of guys on the boat today. Plenty of action on the boat even when the bite was not happening. We started out looking for the bft bite off the bone early. Managed one gaffer dolphin while trolling through tons of bait all morning. Decided to push out to the 30 north of the dog, found lots of bait but no bites while trolling out. Set up for yellowfin about a mile east west of the 30. Cross over where several others are working the hook up north and shortrigger goes off. 30" yft in the box, reset and come back across, double header, one fish is 32" in the box, the next was on a spreader bar that the whole crew watched destroy after missing it the first time. 15 minutes later a nice 50 class yft in the box. Managed another throwback and 2 other nice bites that didn't come tight. Jumped a couple of small mahi and then trolled south towards the dog. Center rigger goes off and Mr Whitey is sky high and dancing for the crew. After a couple of jumps and trying to keep a boat off him (only 3 of us in the area but oh well) we get him to the boat, take a few pics and release our first white of the year.
