    tackle storage

How do you guys store your rigs on the boat? I have a lot of tackle ranging from squid chains to islanders to sea witches I am trying to come up with the best storage solution for a 24' foot grady walk around. I tried big worm binders with ziplock bags but am thinking about going back to buckets. How do you store it?

Shimano travel duffle bags. I keep it all at home and bring it back and forth to the boat. I suppose I could store it on the boat, but between the salt air eating my rigs, and the extra weight when I go inshore bottom fishing, and the possibility that it could all walk away in the night, I'd suggest picking up a few of these bags from Shimano and just lugging that gear when you head offshore.

I store everything in the air conditoned house rods, reels and all my tackle. Here in Texas skirts love to melt in the heat, my buddy lost a big chunk of money doing it, I told him takem home he says "naaaaaaa it'll be alright" besides you leave your stuff on the boat you cant look and play with it all everyday.

Capt I would recommend designating some authority on this task. That is to say, I know when I step aboard my Bros boat Blue Magic I am in charge of rig storage and keeping the deck clear of clutter not an easy task when the heat is on so best to maintain during those slow times. What I have found is the 12” freezer zip-locks work best for me with wire ties stored in a duffel bag. When the heat is on I tend to designate the sink area to throw rigs into that are not being used until I get a chance to coil them up and rinse with fresh water. But this only works well if your first mate / crew stay on top of the rigging, so don’t be afraid to bark out those commands to the crew who depend on the capt to run the boat and find the fish.
