When it comes to matching Islanders, sea witches, Hawaiin eyes or any dead bait skirt...either with a dink bait or horse ballyhoo...what should I use as a rule of thumb with length of skirt to bait?![]()

Have caught tons of fish with over half a hoo sticking out behind the skirt and caught tons of fish with just the tail of the hoo sticking out of the skirt...
I like to have the hair just forward of the point of the hook. I also think just enough hair to notice, not enough to get in a knot. GRab the Islander so you are holding just the hair and your hand is at the back of the head. For mediums I would cut it almost flush with my hand and for large of Horse I would go about an inch or an inch and a half past. Let me know if you need further assistance.![]()

With the skirt I don't like to cover more than a 1/4 to 1/3 of the bait!
on island jrs. it covers about the right amout 1/3 of it hook exposed..
