I got the boat on the trailer!

I'm headin' to Fla to go sworfishin'. I believe Paul has schooled me enough to give it an honest shot!
Thank you Paul, this was a great tutorial.
I probably know your answer to this, but will ask anyhow. Many folks feel that hollow core spectra is the future of fishing, especially in applications where a lot of line is off the reel. I understand you feel it is not safe, but safety issues aside, do you see a benefit to using it for swordfishing?
Opinion on circle hooks for swords?
Thank you,
Nick

I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE EXCITEMENT IS ABOUT 10 GUYS RUNNING BACK AND FORTH ONE WITH A PONEYTAIL....AND THE OTHER NINE CELEBRATING EVERY DRIBBLE......FACT-O-DA-MATTER: I COULDN'T NAME ONE PLAYER ON ANY COLLEGIATE OR PRO TEAM....FOOTBALL....BASEBALL...OR B-BALL

ON ANOTHER NOTE.....YOU ARE GONNA LOVE FISHING WITH DA "BISCUIT"...........SUCH PASSION...SUCH ZEAL...........SUCH AN INVENTOR OF NEW WORDS

Nick the one advantage you might have with hollowcore on these fish is on the strike and driving the hook home as it has less stretch. With a circle I think that would be defeating the puropse if used with the hollowcore. With mono I suppose that circles would work ok but as it is almost every sword we see is hooked in the mouth i see no real advantage. On occcasion we will get one foul hooked which swings the advantage to the J-hook. We just seem to never get gut or deep hooked fish.
I know when I first did the sword thing when it first became popular in the late 70's I did use circles on occasion with about the same percentage of hook ups... So its a can do thing but no real advantage one way or another.

Now I may consider doing smaller top baits at some point on say 30lb gear. and I may try circle there...

will you teach me your squid tricks in person?? I need to learn how to rig one up.
I am more of a hands on learner .. not much of a text book person.

Deep-

Great words of wisdom there sir. I'm just learing about swording here north of the DMZ and I believe that some of your tactics would apply up here as well. Thanks for all the time and effort to put this together.
