Had forgotten about this one!
Deep thanks for posting up the 101 on swording!
I leave this fri. in the am for Islamorada for two weeks and plan on doing some daytime deep drop with break away weights. Buddy of mine gave me window sash weights. Now here's where I have a couple of questions I plan on only dropping one rig at a time. Would it be best to attach the breakaway direct to the hook to prevent a tangle while my rig is on the way to the bottom? And would it be best to have some additional weight up the leader to help keep it in the daytime bite zone? Once the breakaway is gone? For any members in the keys Feb16th-Mar1st we will have several boats tied to the dock behind the house in Snake Creek and will have some room to add some guests to our fishing trips. Just drop a line.... Deep thanks for any insight you may be able to offer me.... Preston |

Great question... Problem is I havn't done it myself. Really dont have a clue... We used to tie our weight to the bend of the hook dropping for sharks on the hump to avoid tangles. Worked fine but those baits were really very rugged. Not sure how a squid going down tenticles first would react with the water rushing back up its mantle as it sunk. If I was to rig with the weight below in that case I might think about rigging it backward and a whole lot of sewing...

Try moving the light away from the squid, we found that they have such good eye sight it cut back on slashed baits and small fish. We also have been trolling for them and this also works. Just dont give up. Tight lines..
