Swim platform...Keep it or ditch it?

i was on a 36 jersey at the baltimore a few years ago hooked up to a est 400+ blue marlin. while fighting the fish for about 2 hours and constant stern into the seas the platform struts under the waterline worked loose and the platform had to be tied off and brought on board.we had to plug 4 holes from inside the boat.we still managed to release the fish and headed home.platform is still under my deck. get rid of the platform and plug the holes while up on blocks.
