    Swell Rider Sportfishing Report..4/21/2008

Well we were at it again today. Myself and capt. Joe Hifko took the Iron Man Kilsong out Grouper fishing again today. Kil fished with us Friday, drove home to Jersey just to turn around and come back down for round 2.. The fishing today was similair to friday, a great grade of Red Grouper and B-liners. This time around we didn't stop inshore for the Gags. It was a pretty clean catch of Reds, scamps, snapper and a cobia. Most of the Reds were in the 15 to 20 lb range though Kilsong caught one that we think is over 30lbs we didn,t have a scale onboard. These trips are a great way to fill the freezer or to pull on an ass kicking fish. Tomorrow is a day of rest so till the next report. Capt Ken

Great fishing, as always, Ken and captain Joe.
Any pictures of the 30+ fish?
A 33 recently got accepted as the NC state record.
I have seen bigger commercially caught red groupers, as I am sure you and Joe have as well and have caught a number of 25 - 30 lb fish this season, so I'm suspecting that the red grouper NC record won't last for very long.

Good eye there Merry Marlin! That is hard core for ya, eating a plate of sushi on the bait table. Better make sure you pick up the right piece. No weak stomachs in that crew!

Of course we didn't have a scale onboard. In the last 2 trips Myself, Joe and Kilsongs friend Choi lost some Real big ones. I had one yesterday about 50 ft off the bottom and he wasn't having any part of it right back to the rocks. Im usually pretty good about getting them out but not this guy.
