Left Wrightsville Beach at 6:30 am and was greated by heavy rain, couldn't see 2ft in front of you.. I figured it was going to be one of those days..about 3 miles out of the inlet the clouds parted and it was a dry run to some new grounds that I found a couple weeks ago but didn't have time to fish it..Had Gregg " pooky " Kennedy with me, he fishes with me 2 or 3 times a month and was interested in doing alittle jigging as well as bait fishing for Grouper, snapper and sea Bass..
Ran the area for awhile to see how things were looking on the Bottom, well things looked REAL GOOD!!!! Anchored on the first spot and we were both hooked up before the boat even came tight. Nice Sea bass one after another limits were not hard to catch but we culled them out since Greg only wanted to keep a few fish..Not much current at all on the first spot and the Bass and B-liners kept coming.. Made a short move when the tide turned and that was all it took for the Grouper to start firing..The spot held Gags, Scamps and reds as well as more Bass..We kept a limit of Grouper on that spot and then just jumped around to see what else was waiting for us. found a pile of Pinkies and some American Reds..The Hammered Diamond Jig was the jig of choice again seems to always work so why change..The exploring really payed off for us today, there were many more spots I wanted to fish but I'll save them for Friday,Sat and Sunday..
