Put your weights on a rubber band too. You want them to break and drop the weight when you hook up.
Rubber bands will work fine on leaders if you want but I don't like them at all on the main line.

    1. Fixed dacron loops stay put and keeps your line marked, and you don't have to keep guessing distance.

    2. If you are using rubber bands to connect your jug & light, when a fish pulls it under, and believe it or not, that rubber band can cause
enough sliding friction to break 50#.

    3. It only take a few minutes on land to mark your main line,
100'-200'-300' and you will not be fumbling around at night with rubber bands.

Oh S$#% did you bring the rubber bands??

for a hour I was trying to think of the name pliobond. I do not believe it melts into the mono. Its stays pliable(?sp) , flexable and you can peel it off if you need to. Thanks whitey I think pilobond is better for your overhand knots F.stop

Pliobond or Super Glue work fine. Pliobond IS flexible, but so is the Super Glue when it's on mono, Dac, or Dac/mono (wind-ons). I've been using the Super Glue for decades now on wind-ons and have been very happy with it. A good feature is that you can make instant repairs with it and can get back to fishing fast. Oddly enough, it can come in handy for closing wounds, no matter what causes them. I believe that it even sterilizes too. Back in my soldier days it was included in our med kits for temporarily closing up some pretty serious wounds in the boonies and we used it down in Mex a lot for patching up my boys who let a wahoo or more commonly, wicked toothed sierras (similar to Spanish, but up to and sometimes over 15#.) A good interrogation tool too, but that's naughty to talk about in this day and age, but if you have someone who you really have to get to spill the beans on a secret spot or something....oops! Never mind!

    Good stuff!

In the UK we use a thing called power gum comes in different colors and is cast able used as stop knots above and below all sorts of things. we all so know it as pole elastic, it's used to stop the runs of large fish on a fixed line pole, super glue is not water friendly! off the self super glue falls apart after awhile in the water, not a good Idea.
