What does the shipping cost to Hawaii usually run? and what would you recommend using for large yellowfins, is the tackle built to last for large yellowfins?

    Long,

Aloha. I'm sure our Hawaiian Field Staff guy, Courtland Pang, who is very familiar with our bars would confirm that there is no question that the rigging on our bars has been designed to be more than adequate for big tunas, but he has been having a hard time accessing the site lately. We're hoping to get that cleared up shortly. Many other Hawaiian fishermen are using and catching big numbers of fish, including some marlin on them. Captain Josh Temple on this site has caught many big yellowfin on the bars as well. We build them tough enough to stand up to the big game fish family across-the-board and the bar material itself is guaranteed not to break.

Details on shipping expense are available on our website.

Big Fish? Ain't No Big Thing with Archer Bars!

LongRigger - Archer Superbars ships to the 808 using USPS Priority mail and since Archer Superbars can be looped into a tiny coil, they will fit into a standard flat rate box so it don't cost hardly anything. No exorbitant shipping cost outside "the lower 48" like so many other companies. No worries, when you take 'em outta the box they'll spring right back into shape and be ready to run.

As far as being built to take on the big ones, just check out the ad above. See the ahi laying on the deck under the heading "GIANT Yellowfin/Bluefin/Bigeye"? That's a 190 pounder caught outside Waianae on a 4¾" RuckusRaiser (it's still hooked to the ahi in the photo). See the marlin hanging under the heading "Billfish"? That's a 350 pounder caught on a JT Special RuckusRaiser; it's hanging from the scale outside the harbormaster's office at Waianae. The photo of the mahi being gaffed was taken at the Penguin Bank, as was the first of the two ono pictures. The other ono was caught off Molokai. You can see the Archer bars in each photo.

So you can see that Archer SuperBars are in use in Hawaii and sure as heck catch big fish with no problem. That's an Hawaiian clean sweep right there in those photos!

    mmm, Mrs Hays.
Just seen this post, and hope those things are flying out the door, Capt Archer !

Fred's bars do need to be seen to believed. They're very, very effective, and while I haven't caught any marlin with them I can vouch for the their effectiveness on yellowfin ! They were by far and away our most productive tuna bait in the Caribbean when i was last there.

I can still remember the look on Capt Josh's face when I gave him some bars at the 2008 Miami boatshow - priceless. It didn't take long before he was hounding Fred for a whole bunch more.

I slayed the Mahi on the Ruckus Raiser the last two springs. Now that I think about it I have taken one of just about everything on them now. (YFT, Mahi, Sailfish, Wahoo, BFT, and Amberjack). They catch fish!

Two of them will be in the spread tomorrow, the last day of the "Hook a Hoo" Rodeo. Hope to bump that 38lber sittin in 1st place.

CHRIS, FRED..............your bars continue to amaze me. I typically pull a Bird with a Green Machine down the center on the Way Back Line. This year, I committed to a Blue Super Bar with a Green Chase Bait. It accounted for three of four Black Fin Tunas. One held the lead in the tuna division for a few minutes.

You made a believer out of another as well. The tournament team that won your donation Super Bar said they boated several Mahi with that thing they won. I just laughed, and said "I told you so". Said that fish were under it constantly.

Thanks for the input on SuperBars based on your experiences, Roddy. And thanks to you too Ace for the scoop on how they have done and are doing for you and others in the tournament.

SuperBars truly are radically different in performance and many other factors from traditional metal bars. The facts are that we developed them because of frustration over the performance limitations of the metal bars that I began using many decades ago - negatives like tangling, speed range, kinking, corrosion, weight, and more. Capt Josh has repeatedly shown and written about the great catches SuperBars have made for him. In fact, he had so much success with them that he worked with us to combine our knowledge and his to come up with our JT Special models named in his honor. And hardcore pros like Roddy Hays and Peter Pakula don't use and praise them for no reason. Any other kind of lure, including spreaderbars, are justifiably considered competition for fishermens' dollars by many lure manufacturers, yet these famous makers don't hesitate to praise our bars.

I sure hope that some more of you folks on this board take advantage of this sale of ours - one of very few that we ever have - and give SuperBars a try before our best prices ever are over...they will not only not disappoint, they'll amaze you!
