jwalker, I've fished with a 70vs for over a year now and have been very happy with it. I was lucky enough to hop on Admin's boat with it for what turned out to be a great day fishing last year as we and Clean Sweep were hooking into a steady flow of 90lb + tuna standup. While metal, the weight of the 70 is a bit better than the 80's yet they are in a similar class. That rod/reel got passed around a lot and everyone that used it had good feedback, in large part for the rod, but certainly the reel is no slouch. I also run 4 of the the Penn GLD 50 II series. Deep may have a point on the KG's but I haven't heard or seen any issues on the GLD's and I have been very happy with them. These are graphite, which I chose for their weight as I fish stand-up on my boat.
