Do you guys know of a good permanently mounted cockpit video camera that would run of the boat power system and record to a memory card or DVD?

First off to the OP great footage. Cant get enough of watching everyone fishing videos!!

Most systems like what you are looking for would record to a DVR. Most of the HD or good resolution cameras can be plugged into a DVR and a power source. The better cameras I looked into were very expensive. But they had great resolution and you could record in HD. The DVR would be nice because you would have tons of storage. My setup is a Canon HV40 mounted on a remote pan and tilt mount. The only drawback is I can only record up to a hour then I have to switch the Mini DVD tape. The up side to this is I have a hard copy and I can edit anytime I want and dont have to download it to free up space. Here is the setup on my boat. The camera and mount are removable and it is mounted under the T-Top inside of the enclosure. I have been using it for 3 years. Maybe not the perfect set up but 5-8 grand for a DVR setup with top notch cameras was way to rich for my blood. There are a few videos below from one of our trips this year. It seems there is always a compromise with cameras and recorders.....Mark

When I ran your short movie, I received an error message from my computer that stated that there was a script on your mopvie that was making my computer run slowly to the point that it would lock up. You may want to check with the manufacturer to see what that issue might be.

Otherwise, interesting product. I could not find a detail sheet on it anywhere. Any idea how long it will record using the standard memory chip?
