    Sad to hear it

Sad day for sure. Heard it was a tough fight though. He was remarkable to say the least. Fished tunas with him and Bark in Bimini years ago. He's missed already. Blessings to family and friends.

Doesnt it suck that we die? When I first started fishing he was the hottest thing in all the magazines. What a life he must have had. Everyone, knew who he was.

seeing Stewart Campbell in marlin mag all the time inspired me to start offshore fishing. I loved following all his adventures and his fishing career was truly amazing. I met charles Perry one day at pirates cove through chuck richardson. I remember when campell got pulled over the side of the boat, Chuck had a video copy of it and me and walt hendie watched it. yes it sucks we croak

That is what i was trying to say. I mean, who the hell fished the entire world!? He did. And left a hugh mark on it. Imagine that. The one before that in my mind was Ernest Hemingway. But that seemed so out of touch because no one matched him. Seems like a life worth living.

Hank Manley, escaped etc...SC did it for a long time, i always wondered what happened to him, is he still at it. I was thinking about that the other day. Hard for me to write this. Stewart was an old and dear friend of many years. Long before he became famous he was my first true field tester back in the early days of Shimano. He was not only a very successful businessman, he was an extremely wealthy man, but one-on-one, it was hard to know it. And yes, he was one of the best big game fishermen that there ever was. I could tell story upon story about that man, but I can't and don't want to right now. He was oh, so special, but it is far too hard to speak of him right now, except to say...

Farewell, Stewart. And God bless Barky and Charles, your old, faithful crew who, to your last day among us, stood by you and were your honorary pall bearers at your funeral. It must have been terribly hard for them too, but they were there, by your side, as always.

I shall always cherish my memories of you, Stewart.
