Steve Coggin 595lb Blue in Maui Jim Firecracker

Just received a phone call from Steve Coggin who is fishing the Maui Jim Firecracker in Kona, Hawaii. Steve just weighed in a 595 lb Blue Marlin which was caught on one of his TADO lures. The lure was a virgin and was being pulled in the short corner position...Steve was the angler...fish weighed quickly to perserve weight....and they are back fishing as I right this.

Congrats to Steve...you deserve it buddy!

Tournament Summary

Here are some photos of Steve Coggins' Blue which was caught within minutes of the lures deployment. They were close enough to Honokohau Marina to quickly weigh the fish and resume fishing. The fish was caught aboard the Maggie Joe at 9:24am. The fish weighed 595lbs and earned a second place finish in the tourney. Here are some pics....

That's a beast of a lure yet it does not look "all that" big compared to the fish that ate it.

Steve, what would be your recommended rigging for baits that size?

Howzit Patudo
This Tado lure has been a constant short corner bait for me. I like to run it with a pair of 14/0 hook set and use a 600-800 pound leader. This Tado was in the water for only 5 minutes. We had just set the lines and watching the lure pattern. In came this marlin on the short corner. The rest is history.
Aloha
