362lb Hammerhead 11.4ft long on a 9/0 80 lb test and 7 ft rod on a 12 ft boat with a 9.9 OB
I got the best bragging rights of all 2 brothers 3 captains and me, and a whole lot of tuna.
Watched the brothers pass the rods because they could not do it and I hung on.I think it was 81 pds or 101 I forget all the details. At that point it did not matter all I keep hearing I can't let my sister can't beat me,
forget the fish the fun part was the beating my older brothers

261lb YFT on Penn 50TW Cal's 2-speed, 130lb Momoi Hi-Catch, Calstar 46XH wrapped by Captain Mark.
I was commercial yellowfinning with a guy out of topsail two or three years ago we had just had a triple header we got all those in made another pass and had another triple header on. I just happen to grab to wrong rod. We were using Penn 30 wides with 40lb test. I was just about to get spooled when we put it in gear and went after the fish. We had heard reports that some really big yellowfins had been caught lately so we were getting excited. Well three hours into my damn arms were killing me.We were not expecting anything this big and he had forgotten to bring the fighting belt or harness. Well after 3 1/2 hours we had to do something so I took my booksack told them to put it on me and hook up some 250lb snapswivels from the shoulder strapsof the bag to the reel. It helped out a little. THe fish took use over 6 miles from 150ft to 650ft which didn't help any. Finally I get him up 4 1/2 hours later he is almost dead by now we see had had already figured out it's a bluefin. Next problem how ih the hell are we going to get this thing in the boat. We are on a 25' carolina classic with no door. We tail rope him I get up on the transom the capt. backs down like hell and while I am pulling we wash him over the transom using the seas to help. Damn fish falls in the boat lands on my ankle and almost broke it.
We head home I'm about to die. We weigh the fish he weighed in at 412lbs the guy had a permit to sell. I realize after all that the fishes meat was probably ruined but he would have died either way. I never go out without a belt or hareness after that trip.

307# BFT shimano tld 50 2 speed. 50# test with 80# flouro leader... at the back of the boat in 40 minutes. I crushed his will to live.
Earlier this year while tilefishing, I got a 9 or 10 ft hammerhead to the side of the boat on a 320gti. I have had plenty of large sharks on light tackle. They are dumb.
We caught plenty of blues in Venezuela on tld 25's and 20's with 25# and 30# test.
My old mate caught a 92# BFT a few years back on a abu garcia 6500 with 12# test.
I caught an 86# YFT this year on a tld 20 from an anchored dive boat with divers hanging from lines decompressing under the boat. To top that one off, I had a 30# mono leader and a sea bass hook as a rig.
Many people well overestimate the amount of pressure needed to handle a fish and in the same respect overshoot with the size of tackle they use. Knowing exactly how much pressure you can and should put on a fish and when to put it on him will make it so that you can catch just about anything on just about anything.
This winter, I'm gonna shoot for a 50+# rockfish on 4# test.

525# Bluefin on an Accurate 50W spooled with JB Spectra and a 130# Seaguar flouro leader. The best part of it was it was on a rod that I built (seeker blank).

Approx 600+lb Blue Marlin on a 50w Alutecnos attached to a Leeward custom rod spooled with Momoi 50lb Diamond and 250lb wind-on. Pitched her a rigged spanish mack after she tore up a squid chain/mack combo. I was worried she was going to pull the rigger down if she bill wrapped the chain. My buddy was a little slow pulling the chain away. Found her fishing a tuna school about 30 miles off Miami. 1hr 20min of fight time to the leader, tag and release. She was bigger than the 115" measuring device attached to the tag stick. Only 2 of us onboard, what a great show when she got to the leader. She was the first big marlin my friend had ever leadered, he was making me nervous tugging on that fish hard.
My first marlin ever was in the 300lb range on a TLD 20 spooled with 20lb Big Game. Stand Up... No belt, No harness! It ate a 15lb mahi I was reeling in. Got real lucky, leader was only 100lb Jinkai, hook was a 7/0 Mustad 3407. She got hooked right in the corner of the mouth. We were fishing off Marathon Key on our 20' boat in 200 fathoms. I watched the marlin eat the mahi right off the transom 30' back. The guys I had with me had never seen a marlin before, I had leadered a bunch in years prior but never caught one. Good thing those TLDs hold 600yds of line, took a little over an hour to bring in. I broke the leader at the first chance I could.
