I caught my first blue marlin at the North Drop. Got it during spring break week of 2001, it was the first marlin of the year for the islands said Capt Red Bailey of the Abigail III. First day we picked up the marlin, second day we picked up a bunch of schoolie yft and 4 wahoo between 60-100lbs

I must reccomend renting a smaller 30' Center console so you can go island hopping. Between the US/British Virgin islands there are lots of islands and water to explore.

    Nice Job SFC

I would add some stuff for st.john

rent a mako center console from OceanRunner rentals, on your right as you exit the ferry, cannot miss them. Ask for Pete, great guy and there boats are in excellent condition....never had a problem. I usually rent a 25 or the 28 and go to Foxy's etc. on Tortola, jost van dyke, etc...great day option.

Also, if budget is important on the trip, I fished with mixed Bag sportfishing, Rob is the captain and a great guy and during the peak season of July it was $900 for a 3/4 day which took us to the north drop where we went 0 for 1 on a BIG Blue, lots of small blackfin and yellowfin, and 3 very nice yellowfins of 45/50, and 80lbs. Got too mention the last three bigger yellowfins were all caught drifting live baits....I love that chit!! They can pick you up on st.john or st.thomas

    Have a great trip

Just don't drink the tea if they offer. Glad I got the warning before the first time I went. Some of the other guests participated in the tea party and had quite a night.

While you are in Red Hook, I recommend 2 bars. Duffy's Love Shack. It's classic. And just down the hill is a little more of a dive place, but it is called Poorman's Bar. You order a drink and they give you the glass with ice and put the bottles on the bar for you to make your own drink, as strong as you want.
