I saw Canyon Gear's Masher designed by Deep C on this forum and thought it looked great.I always welcome new products to try and raise more fish. I discovered Tim and Canyon were located near me in Jupiter, Fl. So I called Tim and went to see his gear in person. I had to have the Masher and also his Marlin Swimmer, now St. Thomas Swimmer.
Masher designed and refined by Deep C is keel weighted and ideal for rough water like St. Thomas and a great looking teaser. Butch Cox' mate, Pancho, loved the Petrolero one so it now is his.
I rave about the St. Thomas Swimmer, pulled on long rigger with single hook. 4/5 on blue marlin for us with it on Prime Time during the Sept. epic bite.Butch now has one with another on the way for the Oct moon fishing.
Canyon Gear is first class. Tim takes great pride in getting his products perfect.Take a moment and look at his other gear other than lures I've noted and I'll bet you will want to try some for your own fishing style. He will take all the time you wish to discuss refinements and suggestions. He stands behind all his products and is working very hard to put out the best products for all of us to catch more fish. Yes a new kid on the block but a welcome addition to the many fine producers of big game fishing gear.

    Thank-You...JFT

for the kind words..what we have works, it will take some time for the word to get out, we appreciate your willingness to take the leap with us.

I may be a bit blunt at times, just depends on what and who is plunking my strings, other than that you can rest assured I can walk and talk with anyone in the best of ways. Be it lures, rods, tackle, rigging or just plain fishing for pelagics, boats, systems, cockpits to outriggers. Formally, a 100 ton Masters with endorsements, which I let go since I stopped running boats, I still remember the pointie end from the ass and the little window in the side.

The pics below are Masher's and what was known as our Marlin Machine Swimmer. The Masher will remain and keep it's name sake. The Swimmer has been renamed the St. Thomas Swimmer, as it has earned it's stripes, so to speak. The "Petro" Masher pic #1 is the first Masher hot out of the mold the day it was produced, pretty much perfection for the first shot.

I thank JFT and Butch Cox of "Prime Time" for giving it the time in a world class spread, to earn that right.

When I started this business and chose the head shapes, they were just that, solid proven shapes, that we re-worked with our lure team to pull the way we wanted them to. Re-worked inserts, worked with Aqua Blue on the Abalone detail. Point being, we never created fancy names for each lure for a reason. The reason being "they had to earn the name" (which I have previously stated in other posts). So don't let the basic names deter you, they work.

So, I am very pleased the basic "Swimmer" shall now be known as the "St. Thomas Swimmer" and JFT, Butch Cox of the "Prime Time", which is a Carolina boat, will be part of it's legacy ongoing.

4 outta 5 ain't bad for a trip on the long rig, when the game is tease and switch.

The last photo, shows a St Thomas Swimmer in the forefront of the photo (Natural Green Abalone head) with the famous "New England Green". If you notice on the chart, she is nestled into the "Block Canyon", which is where the name CanyonGear came from.
