St. Croix USVI
I was at an auction yesterday to rise money for kids around my way and won a trip to st. croix. So my question is there any good fishing there? Bottom fishing, inshore fishing, offshore fishing, i don't care as long as I get to fish. Any info. on charters would be great. I hear may is the time to go? Any other info. on st. croix would be great as well. Thanks

It's funny you brought that up - I'm heading to St. John this Sat. for a week. I've been down in that area four different times and this is what I know...
You're not far from some excellent billfishing at St. Thomas' North and South Drops. Not sure if it's feasible from St. Croix, but St. Thomas or St. John would be a fairly easy run. I was down there in May last year and Westin's management was in for a few days. I think I saw every boat in the combined fleets of St. Thomas and St. John head to the Westin docks at some point...not sure how they did, or where they went, but saw very little being held up for pics. Not sure May is the best month down there.
I talked to the guys from Mixed Bag Charters in St. John and they were very nice, but couldn't talk our group into a North Drop run. Mixed Bag is a 35 Luhrs if memory serves correct - and it rarely does on that many rum punches. Try to make it up to Thomas or John and I'm betting you'll have a better offshore experience. No idea about nearshore - maybe jacks, some bottom fish, that sort of thing. www.sportfishingstjohn.com That's Mixed Bag's site and they have a yearly calendar showing species and target months.
Hope that helps some...
