Fished the MSSA and Small boat tournament this weekend. Saturday went to the 000 in 70 fathoms and worked their and north. Ended up with 5 yft up to 58lbs. Don't think it did much for us in the MSSA standings. 4 fish on the bar and one on a chain.
Saturday went looking for PIGEYE. The conditions were their. we went to the other side of the break inside of the 461 bump. I just knew it was gonna happen. water went for 71 back down to 65.5. Bait everywhere, two-tones feeding everywhere, Pilot whales also. Never marked a tuna at we gave it 5 hours and then moved into 40line. saw the My Turn and Pole Cat fishing side by side. Slid in with them and caught 6 in a couple hours. decent fishing but small for the tournament. biggest was 39. The Prom Date spread (real Tight Spread) did it for us on Sat. Heard their were a couple bluefin in the area so we decided to go back on Sunday.
Sunday at the Rockpile - headed back inshore to the area inside the rockpile on Sunday. Stayed on the cold side looking for a bluefin. Found nothing but Yellowfin. had 5 keepers and a throwbacking by 9:00am. heard that their were bigger fish in their so we stayed, Never got hit on the wayback by the bluefin. Caught one more and a dolphin in the afternoon. natural bar and the green chain did it again today
