took my brother and his friend tony out for a day in the washington. I was planning on billfishing until my bro told me Tony had not ever caught a tuna. so we stopped short right at the tip of the washington and spotted the two-tones. had one rasta bar out and was deploying the rest of the spread when a white aired 4 ft out of the water and landed on the bar. missed the hook up but that got tony's blood boiling. 20 minutes later as we stuck with the two-tones the lines started popping and screaming. Only the bar came tight and Tony was into his first tuna ever. Took a while but we landed a 75lb yellowfin. he requested that we go look for marlin cause his back couldn't take it anymore but it was too late as the explosions started at the flats and worked their way to the longs. Only one stayed tight and he pulled off rather quickly. We picked up and moved to the 500 line in search of marlin. Went 1 for 2 on the whites and a nice dolphin. at about 4:30 this aftertoon we found the mother of all weedlines loaded with sulpher, weeds, trash and wood. It was too late to work it but I bet it had to be loaded with something toothy. we will probably be back out on monday.
