    Question SQUID DREDGE????

Question for all you Billfish/Dredge guyz.....

Has any one ever rigged a dredge of Squids?

How about Islanders($$$ ) or any kind of lures.

Just trying to think outside the BOX,

Im sure someone on this big webstie has tried something diffrent than a strip or mullet dredge?

I whant to know has anyone had success on them?
Also, what about pulling a squid dredge while Tuna hunting???

Sounds interesting, if you rig it I'll tow it

I think squid would make a great dredge, just rigging that many squid could be a pain in the ass! Maybe between you and BOX you can come up with a quick way to rig dredge squid!

We make squid dredges they work good when fun fishing but when money is on the line nothing can compare to the natural mullet or ballyhoo dredge.

Yea I gotcha whitey, Defnitally no question when moneys on the line gotta go with whats tried and true.

    But

I was thinking that a drede full of natural squids would sure give off a nice scent trail.

Would just suck when a school of 4LB mahis came by

Also, i was thinking, maybe rig up a dredge full of plastic squids, then pull it dead center off the transom, then pull 2 bars of the same color on the right and left flats.
    This would be for Tuna???

Im sure natural squids would make a nice dredge but they would take forever to rig and they would get destroyed when the first fish attacks them. Squid dont hold up as well as mullets when they are getting attacked by whitey.

A few years ago we tryed pulling dredges with hook baits on the end out of Shinnecock for tuna. We pulled 1 dredge on each flatline off the rod tip of 130's and then pulled our normal spread on the riggers. For some reason the surface bars and single lures outcaught the dredges 5 to 1. The yellowfin would usualy go past the dredges and right to the surface baits but we did catch a bunch of longfins and even caught 2 makos that went after the dredges and got wrapped up in leaders.

    Bill-

Not only do I have lures for you but I have something that you can add to your artificials that would be absolutely deadly. All you would need is an absorbant foam insert to stuff inside the squids laced with this stuff and you wouldn't even need a hook! They would just hit it and not let go. Cool stuff!!! And yes, it would definitely handle the stresses of high speed trolling and the fish wouldn't be able to tell the difference until it was too late!

You need to send me a mini dredge or spreader bar sample for when I speak at fishing clubs! And I want royalties dammit!!!

Yea, This is going to be a lot of trial and error,

But when im not with paying customers ill be playing around...

Im going to put a lot of thought into how i can come up with a really good subsurface teasre for the MEAT....

Whitey, when i was talking about the dredge and the 2 bars, i meant that the dredge would be purely teaser, and no hook.

I would be hoping to create a larger school of bait in the center, then the bars could be maybe pods breaking off, and my single lures would be stragllers.

Like i said, Im gonna be doing some trial and error this year...
