Squid Bar or Squid Chain from the teaser reels?

Whats the preference, from the teaser reels off the outriggers, squid bar? or squid chain?

My past experience is always good with my squid chain as a teaser, but I also see guys running to spreader bar teasers off the outriggers, while marlin fishing...

Whats the general consensus, is one better then the other?

My common sense says the bar would garner more looks simply for the realism and the size, but I have also had many a bill fish attack my squid chain teasers.

What are ya'll running, and I am speaking of strictly bill fishing in the southern mid-Atlantic, sails and whites. I already run a dredge too.

we fish chains off each rigger. I pull a "Rasta" squid chain with a Blue/White Islander--Horse Bally on one and "Electric Pink" with the Islander on the other. The Rasta seems to be popular with the Sailfish lately..

It also depends on your teaser reals. Chains are easier to pull away then bars.

On my boat we fish chains simply for the fact that they are easier to handle then bars. I dont have the ability to crank em up and let them dangle as they can get tangled with a fish boatside. I dont want a bar full of squid adding to the clutter in the pit when we are hooked up.

You will notice most of the bigger boats are fishing bars from their teasers when tuna fishing and chains when billfishing.

Thanks for the input, I have pulled bars and chains from my teasers reels no problem with either.

I agree my chains usually get more action, I just can't figure out why, the bar looks more realistic...I guess we just chalk it up to one more mystery about fish.

I agree, put a chaser on the end of the chain. Ilanders sound good, personally I like a Moldcraft superchugger or wide range, off color.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

I ran a mini Black Bart in Flying fish color (blue/white/black and sparkle) behind a mold craft pink chain, and it was one of the only times I have not raised a fish on that chain, probably just a coincidence, but I'm going to run one side with a trailer the other without and see who gets more looks.

I gotcha. We run one side with & one without. The side with gets more looks. In the interest of full disclosure, we run one dredge, & it's always on the side without.
