Capt. Jay Kavanagh, of F/V Bite Me, runs a first-class operation from the Hatteras Harbor Marina and, in addition to being a wonderful host, consistently produces success for his clientele.

There are others that have fished with him that can support my statement.

Anyone of these Captains are top notch.. But I would book early fro some time around the middle of May till the middle of June. June being my preference, because the big eyes are usually here then.

If you come in June theres a good chance for a cobia, once the water temps hits 70 degrees. Sometimes the guys get their tunas and then come to the beach to look for the cobes. 116 lber caught here two years ago.

    Captain Ron, great sum up.

I dont have near the experience you do out of OI but for what its worth i totally agree, I was there in May/June and the tuna fishing was awesome, plus big gaffers and even some quick but great billfish bites a little further down the beach.

All the boats you named are awesome, but i totally agree, Elson on the Outer limits is BY FARRRRRR the wildest/funest guy i have ever fished with(he's also a bad azz fisherman) and his mate is alomost as crazy as he is. You cant go wrong with any of the boats though.
