    Spreader bar release ideas

I usually fish spreader bars in a non- tournament situation, however this week I'm fishing a tourny that doesn't allow them, I'm thinking i'll cut off the hook bait, use the bar as a teaser ,and use a rubber band to attatch a green machine that will break off when hit, has anyone tried this method? If not what kind of clips do you use?

I think you will have tangle issues. But let us know if it works.

I've use the bar like a sled on a green stick boat. Attaching squids in front of the bar dangling in and out of the water. You can attach several this way and its very effective. Use a swivel attached to the mainline with a rubber band and attach the other end of the rubber band to the swivel on you squid rod. I have not ever tried it on the bar though!

It has been done with sucsess using a release clip off the stinger line

I prefer to just run the bar hookless and run something solo behind it

would not experiment during a tourney with an unknown

last season we had this method prove sucsessful for Mako's , Blue Marlin and Yellowfin ,,,,,,,,,,,,,Not messing with sucsess

our single lure was only a few feet behind it

we do the same thing, put a bait right behind the bar even with the hook on the bar we seem to get more bites on the baits a few feet behind the bars the the bars themselves??

Williamson Lures makes daisy chains and spreader bars rigged up to attach another line to it with a rubber band.

I've never tried it, but might in the next few weeks. I guess the main advantage comes when you don't have to fight a fish with the spreader bar on the line.

NOTHING BUT MY PERSONAL NO NOTHING OPINION HERE

ONE DAY....(HOPEFULLY NOT)....IF YOU KEEP USING A RELEASE ON A SPREADER BAR....ONE DAY YOU WILL BE VERY SAD

BECAUSE ONE DAY.....ONE DAY MR. SMOO IS GOING TO COME CALLING AND INHALE THE SAID BAIT THAT YOU HAVE IN THE BAR/RELEASE CLIP AND SMOO WILL BE TRAVELLING AT LOCOMOTIVE MACH SPEED CHARGING THE TOWARDS THE BOAT AND TAKE THAT LITTLE OL' LEADER RIGHT INTO THE BAR ITSELF FOR THE GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF YOUR LIFE!

ENOUGH SAID .... AND KEEP IN MIND THAT MY FIRST SPREADER BAR EXPERIENCE WAS IN 1982 OR '83.....AND YES I CAUGHT PLENTY OF TUNAS

HOW OLD WERE YOU GUYS BACK THEN?
