So far our best guess is that we hit a whale. There were a lot of them seen that day. Still awaiting the damage assessment.

Great job to all involved. Glad no one got hurt. Boats can be repaired or replaced.
Sure do hope someone competant is around if I am ever in that type of situation.
Be interesting to see what caused the damage.
John Thanks for the great assistance in helping my buds out. You have the perfect boat for getting there quickly.
Gary sorry about the boat, but I'm glad you guys are safe. I didn't even believe Liltunny when he called from Cape May, but soon enough my jaw hit the floor. Congrats on the Whitey!!
I guess we can't blame this one on Kenny this time. LOL It could be Lil Tunny bad luck cause he was with when I went in the drink. But he aklso saved my butt.
Keep us posted and see you guys soon.
Sorry guys posted under my Dad's login id.

I am glad to hear that everyone is ok. That was a great job done by John and the USCG.
John,
Good going helping those guys out. I've helped more than a few but never anyone in that dire a circumstance.
I work side by side with the Captain of the SunnyBoys every day and have no doubt that he is cool and precise under fire. A level head can often mean the difference between life and death in the water or on the land.Originally Posted by Sterling
You never know what you've got until you almost lose it and undoubtedly those touched by this event have gained more perspective. The Sunnyboys must still have some purpose here as the outcome could have been much different but for the Grace of God.
There is no better search and rescue than our US Coast Guard. Looking at pictures of the hull and the related thread, there was timing, luck and maybe divine intervention at work last Wednesday.

Everyone was lucky as well as levelheaded. Nice to know there's a helping hand out there. I love offshore fishing..... but that's the one thing that I fear. Something happening to the boat when you aren't anywhere near land. So glad that fellow fishermen went to help. Great work Capt. John!
