    Spooling my Okuma 50 W

I'm thinking about spooking my 50w with 80-100# braid and then a top shot of 50# mono. Any idea on leaders or what you think about this setup?

I was told my okuma 50's wouldn't be able to take the braid, so I just went and filled 'em up with 50lb mono... Haven't used them yet but I'm heading south and will be taking them with me in september.

First off welcome to the forum. Watch out... it gets addictive.

Second off... what are you trying to catch? Why are you going with braid? Do you need the additional line on the reel cuz your marlin fishing, or are you going to be using it to high speed troll for wahoo.... or etc etc.

Never used an Okuma personally. Heard mixed reviews. I have consistently heard that the design is great, but then I have also heard they have some shoddy materials. Cant confirm or deny either.

As to leaders.... it again comes down to what your goal is with the reel. You want wind ons for trolling? Long steel leaders for sharks.... the list goes on and on.
