upgrades were made on the drag system to make this reel more offshore capable.the max drag on the 14000+18000 is 44 lbs.that is a lot of drag for a spinner.22-27lbs of drag on the smaller models.thats probably the biggest upgrade they made to it.there are a bunch of small changes like easy access drags,
drag materials, kits u can buy to remove the bail wire like on a V.S.(5000+6000+8000 only),repairable clicker etc.
i'm sure i'm missing a couple but check out there website or go to your local dealer and ask them.i'm sure they will be happy to help you out.
if your looking for jigging or popping i would definitely go with the fb series.the fa series although a great reel they are more for the inshore fisherman than offshore.

    Mario,

Can definitely recommend the FB series. Much better drag system and was designed specifically to handle larger braid lines. Have used both the 6000FB and 8000FB on large 50+ inch AJs and good sized mahi, they work great for jigging and casting in those situations. I haven't personally hooked up jigging for tuna on them, but know some people who have and swear by those reels.
