Specifics on Closures

Ok boys and girls... Deep is getting up a head of steam. I have been reading about closures of sea bass, snapper, grouper, aj, etc... and tightening of regs all over the place and ICCAT and so on...
I'm a busy guy but am punching a hole in my schedule to have a few meetings with very highly placed individuals on this subject. Its important that I get the who did whats very very accurate.
I need very specific info to help all of our clause.

Lets start at the head, I've read the name a zillion times but can't remember her name. I need that along with any details on her affiliation with PEW... Please be as accurate as humanly possible because I plan on steamrolling this thing into action instead of just sitting around whining about it. The pieces are in place to do just that...

Any specifics on the closures themselves would help too. Species, seasons, limits... Any and all as long as they are accurate...

I'm compiling accurate figures of what our multi multi billion dollar industry brings to the economy as a whole. If you have any numbers regionally or over all bring em on... Put it right here and I'll do the legwork to get this in a couple places that may have some iimpact. I'm not usually one for calling in favors but some are owed to me and this cause justifies doing just that.

Please please post up what you got... I can't do this all alone without it...

Moratorium on oyster toad fish in from January through April 2010
Limit of one stargazer per angler per day.
The taking of blow fish is illegal until further notice

Ok its a start... We have Jane leading the charge...

Where is Eppefour? He has some details of a proposed bill that will grant the Administrator more time to meet set guidelines... I need to get that info and have some trained staff pick it apart to see if there are clauses that may give same director/ Administrator more power in other areas...

I'm compiling volumes of public comment which are part of record and detailing where they largely have been ignored. Lets keep the info comming guys... If we all get on this one same page we WILL get things fixed...

But you can't leave out the gafftopsail catfish closure and its cuz the saltwater cat those have to be getting close to endangered or at least threatened right with the southern stingray those are almost gone...... oh thats right I can't make a dime off any of those so their safe LOL

Come on guys... This is not a farce or a joke. If you're comfortable with the crap thats taking place at a blistering pace then at least show the common decency to no inject junk into whats supposed to be a serious attempt by those of us who do give a shit . Any stuff will help. This is not the time to sit back and say "oh somebody else can do it..." every bit helps. More details on Jane and her ties. Details of ammendments to the MS Act. Any and all will help. The more ammo I have when I go in, the impact WE can make...

Its not only time to stop the hemorhage thats killing our sport but time to repair the damage thats already been done... This isn't about fighting "city hall". This isn't some hot headed rant. No need to get ugly. Its a clear concise forwarding of materials and facts to persons who are in a position to effect meaningful change.

All of this stuff is important... I'll be sitting with some very influential people many of whom are on the other side of the aisle from my party affiliation. I'm going in absolutely neutral as far as that goes. I have to because its going to require their help to get things done... I have a few of their attentions as these closures are directly impacting in a large way, their constiuancy.

Annecdotal suppliment welcome too. How are these rules affecting your community? Local businesses from marinas or boat related businesses to bait and tackle shops or perhaps the service related ones like hotels and or restaurants...

the rec limit on tile has been lowered from 5 to 3 while the commercial longliners have no trip limit at all. i've had quite a few customers that tell me they won't be coming back to fish with us in the future because its just not worth the money anymore. we carry close to 3000 tourist a year on our boat which not only helps us but helps the entire community here on the outer banks. i don't have any thing against the commercial guys but i see this to be completely unfair to the recreational fishermen.

Some guys from Hatteras, NC need to answer this thread. Ask Capt. Jay Cavanaugh. They witnessed first hand what the environmentalists will do to the economy. I laughed and damn near cried when I saw the TW's sign that read, "save a bird, kill an island". When did a bird or fish become more important than a man's ability to feed his family? Sorry I don't have info that you can use.
