Southern Costa Rica goes off last 3 days

3 days ago we raised 8 sailfish released 3, 1 released-300lb black marlin, 4 tunas about 60-80lbs each.

2 days ago we raised 5 blues and 1 black over 700lbs and my client was "snake bit" on timing, trying to hook his own fish and lost all of them. He did manage to hook 1 about 400lb., but the fish jumped in a crazy tight circle and cut the line.

The big black hit a big, orange Bost lure on the short corner teaser that I have control of from the tower. She looked like a nuclear sub coming up from behind the teaser, but ate the teaser on a high speed side bite that was so crazy to see. Water must have flown up over 20ft behind the boat. She held onto the teaser so hard my right rigger came flying up and slammed into the tower from the strike, but then she wouldn't let go and I thought for sure something was going to break. I dropped the teaser reel into free and locked it up. I did it 3 more times before she let go. Then we proceeded to miss her on the drop back tuna...Faaaaahhhhhhhh!!! The skippy came back smashed in half, too much thumb pressure on the take, the guy burned his thumb off i and I could smell the carnage from the bridge. I think my client learned something.

We ended up finding the porpoise with birds and monster tunas jumping out front. We cleared the marlin spread and got a double on live bait. Ended up with 1 tuna over 200lbs and fought a bigger one for 2 hrs and pulled the hook 30ft down. A bad luck day but I guess we should be happy with a big tuna...I hate losing marlin! I won't sleep tonight...my stomach hurts.

Yesterday I called in some heavy hitters and went back to the same area, to do some damage.
first pass on the high spot with 2 teasers short and 2 floppin skippy's and whammo, we were hooked up to a small blue around 200lbs. We released it within 15 minutes...good jumper, but not as big as the day before...at least we got the skunk out.

We jigged some more baits and flopped them with immediate success , hooking one around 350lb. and got her after a 30min battle. Great video to come!

Next fish came in on the short teaser. We switched it with a dead, blue runner and pulled hooks after a 3 min. psycho fight that left 3 people on the deck of the boat freaking out about the blue that tried to kill us all. The marlin charged the boat straight up the prop wash full speed, so i gunned it full speed too. At the last second, no less than 10 ft. behind the transom, the fish turned and jumped under the outrigger and around the front of the boat. I spun the boat around we got the slack back but on the next run the hooks pulled. Damn!!

We missed the next 2 blues on the flop baits, lazy fish one look and fade away and another fat one on the same short orange teaser that didn't switch.

We then caught the next 2 blues, the biggest around 400, we ended up 4 for 8 on blue marlin. One of the fish at leader swashed it's tail and threw a wave of water over the whole cockpit, drenching everyone. Good fun! I had to get home early so we called it a day and got one of the guys back for his flight at 2pm.

Besides some rain, those were some epic days for the rainy season...hope it continues.
Workin on the video and will put a Youtube link up shortly. I hope. I have a harder time with uploading internet stuff than swtichin a shy grander on 6lb test.

    Thanks to Carolina Classic(28'), Fin-Nor(50-2speed), Furuno(navnet 2), and
Owner hooks(11/0 super mutu circle hook) for making extreme products for insane fishing. Couldn't do it without you guys. And of course Andy and Dirk the owners of

the boat that have to listen to this report in germany hahahah!!!!!!get on a plane quick

I wish that I could get on a plane today and come down there. Sounds like 3 awesome days.
