just signed up under perfectpartner, but its only allowing me to sign in as a quest. No clue what the problem is.
It's approximately 27 nm to the SW corner of that area from the tip of the Fernandina jetties. I had no idea you could target Bft in our area. Is it just a very short window for targeting them or do they have a pretty set season? If 25 miles is unusually close for them what is normal?

My guess, based on rumors I heard 15 years ago, is that maybe the area these fish are being seen is the point at which they cross from this side to the otherside of the Gulf Stream. We know BFT's are caught down through NC and we know they used to swarm the bank this side of Bimini(and some are caught in the Bahamas every year in different areas). So, they have to be crossing the Gulf Stream somewhere and I know we do not see them off NE Florida.
The area they were seen is 44nm from my inlet. I am going if I get a weather window next weekend.
We're baaack.....
So are they migrating south right now? I trailer my boat up to Ga. quite often to fish Gray's reef which is about 80 miles from here in Amelia. G-reef is only about 30 miles from the Fern. ramp which is 5 min from my house. So you guys do specifically target them? How reliable is the fishery compared to say the wahoo fishing around here? I am in no way set up for trolling but I hope to be eventually. The idea that I might have a shot at something like a bft around here someday just blows me away. Obviously not very many people know that and it would probably be best to keep it that way.
BTW Tim you probably don't know me from FS forum b/c i'm pretty much a nobody but I watched the video that you posted on here and noticed that you didn't mention anything about the more recent problem you experienced. I guess you've gotten past that obstacle too. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

All in a big swell. We are going Saturday. Not coming up that way unless there is a confirmation the BFT's are there.
We're baaack.....
We too will be heading offshore on Saturday. Fishing on the Hunker Down, ch 68. With the weather laying up, hope to raise some fish. We will prob. be bottom fishing and jigging most of the day with trolling the towers and grays if the water looks good with good temp breaks. Jagsare1 where will you be fishing? This time of year do yall slow troll live bait or drag dead ballyhoo? What color skirts and seawitchs are hot right now? Has there been bait on the the beaches? Sorry for all the questions just want to have a productive few days on the water while Im away from school.
thanks
