Out in Avalon on Catalina Island today, we're in between tournaments and took some time to take in the history around town. For those who don't know, this is where sportfishing was invented and some of the great names in history established our sport. Names like Zane Grey, George Farnsworth, even Laurel and Hardy all fished here. Much of the tackle we use today was invented or developed here, particularly the internal star drag reel. This is also the home to the Tuna Club of Avalon, one of the oldest and most distinguished fishing clubs in the world.
