    Bream,

Kenya is right next door to Somalia where all the pirates are. Is this place safe? I checked out the website and it looks nice but I think I would be worried about being kidnapped cause nobody would pay my ransom.

The U.S. Navy just got authorization today to go kick some pirate ass.... they just have to get a few details worked out... it will be interesting...

JD here is a web page for the place. Not sure of the currency though could be Euros but sitll looks cheap. I would imagine the affordability compared to Central America would hinge on airfares. I am going to get more info on it as a possible future fishing destination.
Yep that's Euros alright....definitely have to do more research..

yes Kenya does neighbour Somalia but there has never been a case of piracy in Kenya's inshore waters; only those ships 450 miles and more from the coast have been targeted. Also, no reputable company would take the risk of heading too close to any possible danger zones on the border- not that there would be any need to as the fishing is outstanding 3-4 miles out and within sight of shore. funnily enough a lot of locals believe the threat of piracy- which has dissuaded the vast majority of commercial fishing in the neighbouring waters- is responsible for Kenya's outstanding healthy fish stocks!

most of the charter companies accept euros, sterling and US dollars as far as I know. if anyone is interested in more specific info from the great company I used feel free to PM me and I will put you in touch with the owner who was happy to advise me on travel costs, accomodation etc..
