SOFT HEADS LURES - WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS

We have the ability now to produce ALL our lures, in every size, head shape, abalone inserts, tape inserts, tint or cyrstal clear with a new polyurethane resin which is SOFT.

About the hardness of a new pencil eraser.

Stabilized, UV resistant, Crystal Clear, NON YELLOWING WHATSOEVER, field tested for bite durability etc etc.

Side by side with a hard head you cannot tell the difference until you pick them up. Weight is exactly the same within a few 1/10's of a gram.

What are your thoughts..good or bad?

I have always heard that the softies were good..
Makes sense too, when a fish gets a bait in its mouth, its soft
The Moldcraft Softies are always producers....
Cant hurt to try...

Chum..oh im in total agreement on putting them out. It's pretty simple, few clicks and some post attribute and options programming it's done.

On the site there will be an attribute in the "HEAD" section which will allow you to choose a third attribute "HEAD TYPE" from a drop down menu titled either "SOFT" or "HARD".

The question is..is there a demand if any for "softheads" vs "hardheads".

Deepie and I have discussed softheads of years gone by and the materials used then were/are completely different than the urethane we have today and the "new" resins vs what the soft heads of old were made from. The old resins had some real issues, this new urethane has ELIMINATED THAT.

Can you utilize your existing tooling or do you need new molds for the soft urethane?

The little bit that I've played with soft utethane, I've had issues with bubbles - but then I can't really afford a pressure setup...

Sounds like a great option - It will be interesting to see how they hold up compared to hard lures - I'd guess scratching would be less of an issue...

Always loved the mold craft soft heads.....always hated the second inside skirt, after a few trips they never sat right. Would love a softhead lure with multiple colors skirts or solid color skirts that were one piece. Just my opinion....for what its worth. Capt Rob

C Cap, we have all that in place. No re-tooling required. Been testing the stuff for about 6 months..no issues and great response. They don't scratch, but are not impervious to teeth as you might imagine, however, they don't tear either.

Fishbreath, they will look and act exactly as a hard head, skirtable, abalone inserts, tape..exactly what you see on the site, just soft.

Side Note and Footnote: WE DID NOT INVENT SOFTHEAD LURES NOR CLAIM TO HAVE INVENTED THEM. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PROPRIETARY RIGHTS TO THE WORDS "SOFT HEAD".
