Well we attended the south jersey shark and had A great time! Day one ended up paying off for us bigtime with A 390lb thresher that we hooked up late in the day and fought for 1h45min before bringing to boatside to end the fight with A gill shot by way of fly gaff and A 410 slug between the eyes With this weighin this positioned us in 3rd place for A short time where as we where bumped to 4th. So on day two knowing that the money fish was no longer A thresher because of course A 590lb was weighed in we had no choice but to shoot for the deep!We ran out to A favored spot of mine hoping for A prized mako or blue.About 3 ours into our day with nothing but bluefish to show for it so far we see A fin in the distance coming through our slick I thought,no way cant be A shark maybe a sunfish or something then low and behold there she was A TIGER at least 17-20ft long the thing looked like it weighed 1500lbs we shot back A pitch bait (no go)it swam off we pulled the lines ran out ahead of it dropped A couple pitch baits.(no Go) then she dove and was gone.MAYBE it was better that she didnt bite So we reset our drift and slick and back to it we went till lines where called.Nice tourney, good time, had A blast and cant wait till next year!
Hey John, thanks again for posting the pics.I was going to do the sjshark but was invited A few weeks ago by your buddy in PTPL.To do the mako mania with him so I will no longer be attending the sjshark.I was looking forward to it but I figured I would try something different.Ill give you A buzz when I get A chance. mike
