Thumbs up Slinging YFT OC 6-16-09

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went out to the canyon off OC with Rob, Brian, & Jim,,,set down in 64 degree water,, found some small dolphin. two in the box by 9am and then they just started eating and made my crew look like fools,, LOL
Soon after we get a Nice Gaffer 40 inch .
Went deeper to the 500 FA trolled all around and while heading back to the 100 edge it started.
Small YFT were everywhere..... singles doubles triples,,,, we even had 5 on at once,,,( Total chaos for hours!) too bad out of 20 YFT landed only two made the legal limit. then along comes more Mahi,, nice gaffers again.
What a day offshore,, life everywhere, A whole family of 50 foot whales cruised by,, saw some flipper dolphin and a sunfish.
The YFT fishing was such a hoot, we had over 40 bites and reels screaming all day non stop!
At least 10 YFT lost, 18 throwbacks, 2 keepers.
    3 Mahi lost and 5 keepers .
Good news is even though we had a blast and plenty meat,, A boat north of us bout 10 miles did 40 YFT and 20+ keepers,,,

What a day. Oh and The Bimini burned 46 Gallons diesel,,($100 dollar Bill) diesel is cheap on the water. I know yall would like that!
All i can so is go fishen!!!!
    Bill

Nice work, Bill. What were you pulling? Hoos? Bars? All of the above?

I bet if you shot a bucktail with a pork rind out you would be suprised. I know for a fact that dolphin hit them and would be more suprised if tuna didn't.
