Anyone hear what happened? I heard he went into a coma new years eve and died yesterday. Possibly drug induced coma. Such a shame. That boy knew an aweful lot about fishin. Any news appreciated. Thanks.

Skipper did indeed die yesterday, there are many stories floating about, lets just say that he passed yesterday morning, his mother, son, and some friends were present. Heaven must have needed another fisherman to join the rest that are up there.
My mom spoke with his mother, Peggy, yesterday afternoon. No service arrangements have been made yet.
For those that did not know Skipper, he was the son of the famous Capt. Paul Mumford, a legend of big game fishing, and Peggy Mumford, an incredible angler in her own right. Skipper grew up in OC, and has fished around the world with many of the top crews. I fished along side him in several places, and he was a truly talented fisherman. Some of you may have seen him on last season's BXRL Show fishing on the Sharkey's Revenge.
Skipper loved hunting and fishing, and I am sure he will be missed by his friends and family.

Thanks Franky. I fished with him this year in the OC Tuna tourney, and it was a great time. They say you can learn something from every person in life. I learned a lot from him in those few days- not to mention a few hysterical tales involving some of the most prevelant faces in OC sportfishing. Shoot me a message if you find anything about a service. He was a great fisherman, terrible loss. Thanks again.

Prayers sent to his family in the loss of one of our own.
My brother and I had just caught our first or second mako shark ever. Had no idea how to clean it and had it up on the table at bahia getting ready to butcher this fish. This little 10 or 11 yr old kid comes up to us and asks if we want him to clean the fish. This was a time before bad money grubbing fish cleaners that call themselves professionals. I thought he was kidding. I asked this other guy I didn't know at the time (Lee Fickinger) if he thought it was OK. He said I would learn quite a bit from the little kid. The kid cleaned it like a champ. I gave him the better quarter of the fish and he was absolutely tickled. Thats how I met skipper. He taught me how to rig ballyhoo and bonita bellies when he was 12. Invited me to fish with him and Kip Edwards on the BJ one day while waiting for the bridge to open. I hopped on and we went and caught two Makos. I watched him beat everyone at the picnic table in a wire twisting contest when he was 13. God Bless him and his family. He will be missed in Ocean City and up and down the coast.
Skipper sounds like a fellow who earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. May God rest him and ease the pain on his family.

New Rules To Live By
Don’t invade Russia in the winter, and don’t conduct a short raid on Goldman Sachs when the former CEO is the Treasury Secretary.
I did not know him, but he sounds like a great guy from those I hold a lot of respect for on this board....May God Bless him and his family...
