SJ Shark tourn. re-cap FAT CAT wins "big fish" 590lb Thresher

I don't post here often...but I will start for a few reasons. We have always enjoyed an AWESOME tournament in SJ with great fishing, great people, and a well done event!! I had the pleasure of fishing the tournament aboard the FAT CAT with good friend Capt Steve King. Our crew has fished together in this for 4 years and this was our year!!! Day 1 we released 2 small makos. Day 2 was slow for us until about 2:45 when a rod went off and didn't stop. Billy B was the angler (could not have a better guy on the rod). Everybody had their job and did it well. At about 4:15 the fish showed itself boatside and we showed it a flying gaff and slug. After figuring out how to boat a fish of that size we had to RUN to the barn to make the wiegh in by 7:30 in FOGGY conditions. The fish hit the scales and the crowd roared as the we took first place with 20 minutes left in the tournament. Awesome time, great boat, crew, tournament and people!!! Special thanks to OFF THE HOOK BAIT AND TACKLE. Chuck and Mary are great people!!!! The fish was caught on a FRESHY mackeral that we picked up from them. They were loaded with FRESH baits for the tournament. Thanks again to the tournament commitee and SJ marina- for a great event. Can't wait till next year!!

I've had the pleasure of fishing with Steve, and Billy last year in the Monster Shark tourney. Both these guys are extremely knowledgeable and it wasn't a big surprise to learn about their win. I've personally seen what Billy can do on the rod and even seen him wrestle a swordie on deck into submission. Congratulations on your win and once again you prove it's not about luck. You guys are skilled and work well together.

I've met these guys a bunch of times and have fished with Billy in the pit as well as with Steve V. a bunch of times, this is an awesome crew, and a great group of guys!!! I can only imagine what the celbration was like...if you know these guys you know what I'm talking about.....
