OK I just thought I would post up a question to see what the different schools of thought were on rigging sea witch and or naked bally rigs......We fish mainly out of NC and Va and use 100 to 130# leader ......what do you use?

depends on what we're after. 25ft. of 100lb. is what we pull the most, but we will drop down to 80lb and 60lb sometimes to get the tuna to bite. Water clarity, sea conditions and target species obviously makes the difference in determining what we use.
i FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY... You got to match the hatch with the bait and match the hatch with the leader... sometimes you got to be lite.. just for a small comparison there are days trolling i got to go to 40lb flouro on a naked bait! do not know why but sometimes you got to...

I agree .....as any fisherman would...you always do better if you feed the fish what they are feeding on!![]()
I like the 80lb YO-ZURI HD FLO.

We have discussed using fluorocarbon with many people including line manufacturers. Fluoro has value on when it is in the water. If the leader is being used on a surface bait, even one that is swimming just a few inches below the surface, fluoro makes no difference.
We used 130# mono for most bait leaders offshore. We use Mustad 7766D 9/0 hooks for most everything too. We used to use 7/0 9175s but they are too little when tuna fishing and we missed more fish with them.
Now that circles will have to be used offshore, we have a variety of different makes and models to try to see what works best for us. We started that research last year but have not settled on what circle we think is best when trolling ballyhoos.
