Sicilian Wanchese

I was over in Sicily a couple weeks ago for work and visited a couple small towns on the southeast corner of the island that were fishing communties.
Here is a couple pictures of Marzameni harbor, and old church that I was told dates back to the 16th century. Old fish processing plant that has since been converted some else.

The last few of are of the modern fishing fleet out of Portopalo. Lots of Arabic writing on the vessels, I'm clueless what the hell it says... All of the boats had a set of eyes painted on the front also. Anyone know what that's about?
Saw some of the smallest swords in my life iced down for sale on the dock here. There was another boat similar to these that was under construction that was being made out of wood. I wish I would have got some pictures of it.
